Back in 1987, the James Bond film The Living Daylights was released. It used Gibraltar as the backdrop to its dramatic opening sequence. Three 00 agents parachute onto the Rock in a military exercise which soon turns deadly and features dramatic footage of an army jeep careering around the roads of the Upper Rock (with James Bond actor Timothy Dalton hanging onto the roof).
Local entrepreneur, Odette Benatar remembers the filming well – not only was she involved in the production behind the scenes - she even got a role as a Bond Girl.
