For one week in July, Gibraltar played host to athletes from across the globe for the 2019 NatWest International Island Games. Teams from 22 islands competed in 14 different sports from Athletics to Triathlon and Beach Volleyball to Sailing. It was the biggest sporting event ever to be held on the Rock and Gibraltarians took the games to their hearts.
In this, the first of two special Island Games episodes, you can hear from athletes who were involved in the games as well as the Chair of the Organising Committee and hopefully you will get a sense of the amazing atmosphere at some of the various sporting events. Look out for Part 2 coming out next week.
